The electrons were hand-painted to give them a nebulous look, mirroring the particle’s behavior in reality: their position is imprecise, calculated as a "cloud" of probabilities. Rather than true 3D spheres, I used camera-mapped 2D planes. These experiments must be done at extremely low temperatures, so I gave the animation a frosted treatment in post.
